Connie Liu

Connie Liu, aged 15, began her music journey with piano at age of 4 and violin at age 7.
Currently attending Meriden School on a full music scholarship, Connie has garnered recognition through her consistent success in competitions for both instruments, securing numerous top prizes since the age of 6 in prestigious events such as the Sydney Eisteddfod and St. George Eisteddfod.

Her musical journey took an extraordinary turn at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music through the Rising Stars program on the Victor Cromack and Melba Harris Cromack Memorial Scholarship, under the guidance of her exceptional violin teacher, Dr Evgeny Sorkin. His profound influence extended far beyond the technical aspects of playing the violin. With a nurturing and insightful approach, his unwavering belief in Connie's potential gave her the confidence to explore her own musical identity.

Connie’s achievements are remarkable, with recent highlights including winning second prize in the Richard Pollett Award Junior category at the 23rd Kendall National Violin Competition. In 2024, She was also accepted into the prestigious Meadowmount School of Music in New York City on scholarship, where she spent seven weeks immersed in intensive training under the direction of Artistic Director Janet Sung. She also participated in masterclasses with world-renowned violinists such as Stefan Jackiw and Paul Kantor, etc.

In addition to her individual successes, Connie is an accomplished chamber musician. Her chamber group, The Astra Octet was a finalist in the 2024 Strike a Chord National Competition, and she is a regular participant in both the Australian Chamber Orchestra Academy and the Australian Youth Orchestra’s National Music Camp.

Previously, Connie’s accolades include winning first prize in the Wenkart Foundation Violin Award at the Sydney Eisteddfod, second place in the prestigious Alf & Pearl Pollard Memorial Instrumental Awards for Performance Excellence, and reaching the semi-finals of both the Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra Concerto Competition and the Sydney Eisteddfod NSW Doctors Orchestra Instrumental Junior Scholarship.

She aspires to further develop her technical proficiency and musical insight on the violin, with the goal of establishing herself as a distinguished and highly promising violinist.
